Manirathnam is one of India’s top directors, no doubt. But the last time I saw his movie, the forgettable Yuva, I came out half-brain dead. The problem with him, as is with the other leading directors like RGV, is that they make stories they feel good, and don’t care for the audience. Thankfully, this time, his opinions matched ours.

The first attempt at feature films and Kabir Khan rocks!
Kabul Express is loosely based on documentary film maker, Kabir and his friend Rajan Kapoor’s experience in post 9/11 Afghanistan and is about the special relationship which develops between the quintet; an Afghan, a Pakistani talib, two Indian TV journalists and an American photojournalist. The film stars John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Pakistani actor Salman Shahid, Afghani actor Hanif Hum Ghum and American actress Linda Arsenio and is produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films.
Sorry to say so… but Dhoom 2 doesn’t exactly rock. To be true to the movie, I would say it was stylish (actually u can see the stars tryin to look stylish, givin poses after an action scene).
So much expectations on the movie. First things first, when the music was released, I felt it borrrrrrrriiiiinggg… but then thought that the visuals might pep up the music. The visuals were eye-opening (pun intended), but didn’t do much to improve my opinion on the music. The music director, Pritam, did do better music before.
The first half is better with better & more action scenes, esp. the crown & diamond thefts. The second half drags at places, especially during the Hrithik-Ash romantic scenes. View full article »
